Nanette Szuba

Obituary of Nanette Marie Szuba

Crosby - Nanette M. Szuba, 66, of Crosby, PA, the sidekick of the greatest “Rawhide” singer of all time, went to be with her lord and savior on October 11th, 2021 at UPMC Cole after a short illness.

She was born October 31st, 1954 in Erie, PA. If anyone knew our mom, you knew this was the perfect birthday for her. A daughter of John A. Watson and Rosella M. Weaver Watson. On June 11th, 1974 in Emporium, PA she married the love of her life, George L. Szuba. Those who knew our parents knew that they had their own love language, bicker and nag, but they wouldn't have it any other way. Our mom loved her things, our dad not so much. He would joke while in the hospital and say that he needed to get better fast so that he could come home and clean out this house. "There is no flat surface to set anything on", he would say.

Nan never graduated from high school, but she got her GED later in life. We were all so proud of her accomplishment.

Nan had a few jobs that she loved during her life, such as a waitress at the Coffee Shop, an activity assistant at Sena Kean Manor, but as her children, we like to say that her favorite job was taking care of us.

Nan was an auxiliary member of the American Legion John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, PA. She also was a member of the Christabelle Club of Emporium, PA. She enjoyed their Friday night adventures going club to club with her sister-in-law Brenda, her #1 brother-in-law, Bill and her husband, George.

She is survived by five children. Elizabeth M. Szuba of Crosby, PA. Cheryl L. Szuba of Smethport, PA. John G. Szuba of Emporium, PA. Clinton J. (Heather) Szuba of Betula, PA. Kellie A. (Joseph) Britton of Crosby, PA.

Grandchildren - Krista, Morgan, Leah (Jeremy), Natalee, Lillian, MyKenzie, Fisher, GraceyAnnah, Laven, Tucker.

Great Grandchildren - Lukas, Piper, and soon to be Rowan.

Three Brothers whom she loved very much - Jim Watson of South Carolina. John (Ruby) Watson of Hazen, PA and George Watson of Hazen, PA.

Everyone always loved our mother/grandmother like their own because she was a funny, tell you like it was, but also such a loving woman. With that being said there are a few extra children/grandchildren. Jessica (Paul) Platko, Scott (Jackie) Bennett and their three children Annabelle, Nolan, and Baylee.

One very special friend and part of the "date night crew", Sharon Norton.

A very special family so dear to her heart, Joe and Judy Cardaro.

One very special grandma, Carol Collins.

A very special friend whom we all called Uncle Dave

Many nieces, nephews, and cousin.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Jackie Watson Bailey, and one brother Floyd (Kelly) Clouser.

Due to the circumstances surrounding our mother's death we will announce a memorial luncheon at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences can be made at www.hartle-tarboxfuneralhomes.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport.
