Smethport - Michael J. Kandare, "Whale", 50 of Smethport, died Thursday (November 5, 2009) in the UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, after battling cancer.He was born March 8, 1959 in Olean, NY, a son of Arlene M. Russell, of Lewis Run, PA, who survives. On May 5, 2001, in Smethport, PA, he married Constance S."Connie" Seger, who survives.Mr. Kandare was a 1977 graduate of Smethport High School and was a self employed general contractor.In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived byone daughter: Gayle M. (Armando Aponte) Blackman of Smethport, PA Grandchildren, Aleix Aponte, Ariana Apontestep son, Dylan Reed of State College, PAone sister: Lynn A. Kandare of Smethport, PAtwo brothers: Jeffrey A. (Tracey) Kandare of Berneville, PA, Bradley S. "Chip" (Adrian) Kandare of Lexington, SCNephews: Eric, Craig (Amanda), A.J., Andrew, and Ty; and Nieces: Abby and Kylie, several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins, and many lives he had touched over the years.Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, from 4-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the First Church of God, Eldred, PA, with the Rev. James A. Kazimer, pastor, officiating.
