Obituary of Delmar L. Work
Smethport - Delmar L. Work, Jr., 75, of Cyclone, passed away Tuesday (November 23, 2021) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
He was born August 23, 1946 in Bradford, PA, the son of Delmar L., Sr. and Peggy Jean Davis Work. On May 10, 1980, in Smethport, he married Sharon S. Williams, who survives.
Mr. Work was a graduate of Smethport Area High School and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1965 to 1971.
Delmar was employed by Georgia-Pacific Corp. of Bradford, PA for 39 years, retiring in 2009.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, playing horse shoes, shooting skeet and fishing. He enjoyed making his own flies for fly fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family at cookouts and especially holidays. He also enjoyed his garden.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by:
Four daughters: Denice Bell of Portland, IN, Melinda (Jim) Raymo of Smethport, Terri (Gordy) French of Port Allegany, and Wendy (Gary) Springstead of Wellsboro, PA
Two sons: Bill (Michelle) Work of Little Elm, TX and Chad (Jen) Work of Corning, NY
Ten grandchildren, and expecting one more, along with 3 great-grandchildren
Two sisters: Donna (Scott) Stone of Bechtelsville, PA and Deb (Chuck) Mott of Smethport
Along with several nieces and nephews.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a memorial gathering on May 28, 2022 at Hamlin Lake Park from 11-12 noon as a service for Delmar.
