Obituary of Charlene Mae Hendrickson

Smethport-Charlene Mae Cosper Hendrickson, 96, of Farmers Valley, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2022.

She was born in Austin, PA on March 21, 1926 to the late Edward Head and Katherine Nephsy Head.

Charlene lived most of her life in the Farmers Valley area.  She worked for the former Viko/Ethan Allen Furniture Company for many years and retired from the McKean County Courthouse, where she worked in the Veteran's Affairs office.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother of three children, and a devout Christian who played piano and organ for many churches in the Farmers Valley, Smethport, and Labelle, FL area, where she spent the winters after retiring.  Charlene enjoyed crocheting, crafting, playing and singing old hymns, poodles, and especially spending time with her family.

For the last four years, she had resided at the Habersham Suite Life Assisted Living Facility in Baldwin, Georgia, under the loving care provided by her granddaughter, Amy Danielson.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Julie) Cosper of Smethport, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, R. Gail Cosper, her second husband of 15 years, Leroy Hendrickson, and her daughter, Catherine Ann Cosper Rishel.  She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Gene, Wayne "Joe", and Ronald Head.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Habersham Retreat Assisted Living Facility and Homestead Hospice for the exceptional care given to Charlene.  They would also like to acknowledge the loving compassion and care of nurses Allie and Katie, Aide Farrah, and Dr. Klassen, who went above and beyond in their efforts.

There will be no visitation.  A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley, PA.
