Obituary of Lawrence P. Linnan

Smethport - Lawrence P. “Skip” Linnan, 81, of Smethport, passed away Sunday (September 11, 2022) at the Bradford Manor, Bradford.

 

He was born June 28, 1941 in Coudersport, the son of Raymond and Louella (Brown) Linnan . On May 9, 1992, in Bradford, PA, he married Sharon M. Lynch, who survives.

 

Skip was a 1959 graduate of Port Allegany High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was an MP.  He served in the Honor Guard for President John F. Kennedy's funeral services.  Skip attended school and became a certified Blacksmith. 

 

He worked as the McKean County Recycling Coordinator, had worked safety and security for Allegany Particleboard, was a McKean County Deputy Game Warden, and had worked with his parents at “R” House Pizza.  He lastly worked as an independent construction contractor.

 

In his younger years, he was an avid horseman and rode in numerous rodeos.  He was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 and the VFW Post #2497, both of Smethport.  He attended St. Elizbeth Church of Smethport.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

One daughter:  Tamara York Linnan of Arizona

Two sons:  R.J. (Annemarie) Linnan of Fredericksburg, VA and Shawn Linnan of Colorado

Several grandchildren and great grandchildren

One sister:  Penny (Jim) Eddy of Ormsby

Two brothers:  Jeff (Leigh) Linnan of Port Allegany and Tim (Cheryl) Linnan of Smethport

And serveral nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a son, Michael Linnan, and one brother, Raymond “Corky” Linnan.

 

At Skip’s request, there will be no services.
