Obituary of Charles L. McKeirnan

Smethport - Charles L. “Chuck” McKeirnan, Jr., 91, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (September 24, 2022) at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 19, 1930 in Bradford, the son of Charles L. McKeirnan, Sr. and Olive Jones McKeirnan . On July 17, 1954, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, he married Carole Ann Chesebro, who died August 19, 2014.

Chuck was a graduate of Smethport High School and was co-owner with his wife of C.L. McKeirnan, Inc. of Smethport.

Chuck was a member of the Lion’s Club, the McKean County Fair Association, was a founding member and E.M.T. of the Smethport Ambulance Association, was a former director of the McKean County Raceway, and a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport. Chuck and Carole were the winners of the 2000 Catholic Charities Caritas Award for the Diocese of Erie. They were generous to the community and anyone in need. Chuck enjoyed his many bus trips for athletic events, ski clubs, field trips and scouting events. He drove bus for 50 years and his Harley Davidson motorcycles for even more. He loved sharing his many stories with family and friends.

He is survived by: Two daughters: Cindy (Tim) Wright of Cyclone and Becky McKeirnan-Seefeldt of Smethport Two sons: Jerry (Marsha) McKeirnan and John (Marla) McKeirnan, both of Smethport Grandchildren: Cory McKeirnan, Amber Miller, Justin McKeirnan, Colby McKeirnan, John Goble, Jason Goble, Melissa Wright, Tim C. Wright, Brett Williams, Jordan Seefeldt, Marianna Seefeldt, and Akete Kindle Sixteen great grandchildren Two sisters: Mary Patricia Perine of Sharon, PA and Julia Faes of Texas And many nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents and wife, Chuck was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 am in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant.  Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport.  All are invited to a luncheon gathering immediately after the funeral at the Crosby Firehall.
