Obituary of Robert A. Kelly

Smethport - Robert A. Kelly, 62, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (February 22, 2023) at his residence in Smethport.

 

He was born May 14, 1960 in Port Allegany, the son of Joseph Kelly and Mildred Schwiekart.

 

Rob was a 1978 graduate of Port Allegany High School.  He served in the U.S. Army after school.  He was an Army Scout with marksman qualifications badge.

 

Rob was a self employed carpenter/handyman and a “jack of all trades” in the area for many years.

 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR.  He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and was up to help anyone that needed a hand in life.  He adored his grandchildren and loved doing carpentry.

 

He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Sandra Kiehlmeier of Smethport

Two daughters:  Ashley (Derek) O’Connell of Cyclone and Stephany (Justin) Kaziska of Smethport

Three sons:  Joshua (Jenifer) McCain of New Jersey, Matthew (Jolene) McCain of Houston, TX, and John (Julie) Meacham of Turtlepoint

Twelve grandchildren

One brother:  Edward (Nancy) Kelly of NJ

Three sisters: Julia (Donald) Soegaard of Sutter, CA, Patricia Starr and Linda Hardes, both of Port Allegany

Two step sisters:  RaeAnn (Tom) Manning of Pendleton, SC and Lynn (Dewey) Leonard of Port Allegany

 

In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his stepmother, Marjorie Kelly, two brothers, Harry and Joseph Kelly, and one sister, Nancy Kelly.

 

There will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11AM from the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.  A luncheon will be served after services at the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, PA.
