Obituary of James H. Master

Smethport - James H. Master, Sr., 81, of Smethport, passed away Monday (September 11, 2023) at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Smethport, surrounded by his family.

 

He was born September 21, 1941 in Coudersport, the son of Harold and Gladys (Hayes) Master. On June 11, 1960, in Indiana, PA, he married Donna J. Berg, who survives.

 

Jim worked for Quaker State up through there buyout by International Waxes in Farmers Valley.

 

He was a life member of the Smethport Volunteer Fire Department and Masonic Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport.  He loved camping, cruises and traveling.  He and his wife Donna wintered in Florida for 18 years.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

Two sons:  James H. (Lori) Master, Jr. of Gifford and Gary L. (Cindy) Master of Ormsby

Two daughters: Deborah A. (James) Lorah of Mechanicsburg, PA and Brenda L. (Kraig) Okerlund of Smethport

Eleven grandchildren: Melodie (Roy), Autumn (Kris), Scott, Dustin, Luke, Hope (John), Lisa (Derek), Shane, Nathan (Alexis), Jory (Katie) and Morgan

Ten great grandchildren: Brooklynn, Kyler, Brysen, Annalise, Parker, Lennon, Jaxson, Ivy, Bryce and Kaiden

Two sisters:  Cindy (Francis) Benedict of Bradford and Beth Kee of Nacogdoches, TX

And several nieces and nephews

 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Comstock.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 2-4PM at the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, where memorial services will begin at 4PM with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
