Obituary of Richard C. Rounsville

Smethport - Richard C. Rounsville, 97, of Smethport, passed away Friday (September 22, 2023) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

 

He was born June 10, 1926 in Clermont, the son of Willard and Mary (Rice) Rounsville. On August 24, 1946, in United Methodist Church of Smethport, he married Mae E. "Betty" O'Brien, who died July 31, 2010.

 

Dick attended Smethport schools and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946.

He worked as a tool & die setter at Dresser Manufacturing of Bradford, PA, before retiring in1988.

 

He was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of Smethport, a lifetime member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport, a lifetime member of the Smethport Volunteer Fire Dept., member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460, and the Lion’s Club of Smethport.

 

He is survived by:

Three sons:  David Rounsville of Crosby, Gary (Joann) Rounsville of Smethport, and Donald (Diane) Rounsville of Bradford

Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren

Along with many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Rounsville, two brothers and six sisters.

 

A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Oct. 8, 2023 from 12-4 PM at the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport. Burial with military honors accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
