Smethport - Howard F. McCollough, 66, of Smethport, died Thursday (March 4, 2010) in the Hospice of the Golden Isles, Brunswick, GA. He was born Aug 4, 1943 in Bradford, a son of Howard M. and Evelyn L. Douthit McCollough. On Sept. 29, 1962, in Port Allegany, PA, he married Audrey J. Ostrander, who survives. Mr. McCollough was a 1962 graduate of Bradford High School and served proudly in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He had worked as an Electrical Contractor, employed by IBEW#9, Electricians Union. He was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, PA, where he had been a former Past Commander and Treasurer, former Past District Commander, and member of their funeral detail. He was a member of the VFW; Smethport Post #2497, where he had been Treasurer. He was also an advisor for the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of local IBEW #9 of Pittsburgh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Shelby (Daniel) Johnson of Clermont, PA 6 Grandchildren: Dustin, Justin, Tawney, Morgan, Alexandria, and Blake Johnson. one sister: Denise (James) Soyke of Bradford, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Donna Moonan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
