Obituary of Helen Ruth Caskey

Port Allegany - Helen Ruth Caskey, 95, of Port Allegany, passed away Thursday (May 9, 2024) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

 

She was born April 14, 1929 in Nanty-Glo, PA, a daughter of Maxwell and Alice (Leamer) Caldwell. On Oct. 29, 1950, in Port Allegany, she married Kenneth D. Caskey, who passed away in 1992.

 

Mrs. Caskey was a graduate of Cherry Tree High School class of 1947 in Nanty-Glo, PA.

 

Mr. Caskey worked as a bookeeper for the former Ford Tractor dealer in Smethport and then for Meacham’s Hardware in Port Allegany.

 

She was a member of Port Allegany United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.

 

She is survived by:

One daughter: Penny (Edward) Stewart of Port Allegany

Three sons: Paul (Mary) Caskey of Lake Park, MN, Charles (Theresa) Caskey of Avon, OH, and Steve (Debbie) Caskey of Bradford

Grandchildren: Daniel Caskey, Cindy Brinkmire, Christopher Caskey, Anthony Caskey, Heather Walker, Ashley Caskey, Brandon Caskey, Jennifer Mitchell, James Blackiston, Mallory Heling, Mary Schimp, Donald Caskey and Patrick Caskey

19 great grandchildren

One brother: David (Patricia) Caldwell of Nanty-Glo, PA

Two sisters: Agnes (Dwayne) Whited of Falling Timbers, PA and Nira Mae Wilde of Nanty-Glo, PA

Many nieces and nephews

And her favorite companion, “Sassy”

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Mardis.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 11AM-1PM, at the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, where funeral services will begin at 1PM with the Rev. James A. Cannistraci, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights.
