Obituary of Wayne J. Allen

Smethport - Wayne J. Allen, 66, of Smethport, died Sunday (July 18, 2010) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born April 1, 1944 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, a son of Earl Joseph and Vera McGregor Allen. On June 14, 2008, in Smethport, PA, he married Norma Ripple, who survives. Mr. Allen was employed by General Motors Corporation, Oshawa, ON Canada Truck Plant for 23 years. He retired on January 1, 2008. He was a member of the Smethport Country Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one daughter: Tracey (Paul) Nurmi of Oakville, ON; one son: Shawn (Jennifer Bowdring) Allen of Woodstock, ON; step daughter: Ann (Jason) Montgomery of Hermitage, PA; step son: Denny Berkowben of Apollo, PA 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren one brother: Patrick John Allen of Peterborough, ON In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held Thursday, at 11:00 am from the funeral home, with the Rev. Allen D. Young, pastor of the East Smethport United Christian Church, officiating.
