Obituary of Ward Charles Hardes

Port Allegany- Ward Charles Hardes, 86, of Port Allegany, died Sunday (July 18, 2010) at his residence in Port Allegany. He was born March 4, 1924, in Port Allegany, a son of Leo and Rosetta Kinney Hardes. On Oct. 16, 1948, in the Sweden Valley Methodist Church, he married Katherine M. Franke, who survives. Mr. Hardes was a 1942 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Hardes was employed by L. H. Lincoln & Son of Coudersport, PA, retiring in 1986. He had also worked at Abbott's Dairy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Michael (Linda) Hardes of Port Allegany, PA, Terry J.(Nancy) Hardes of Port Allegany, PA Grandchildren: Joe Hardes, Leslie Troupe, Colleen Hardes, Sara Hardes, Great Grand Child, Abby Troupe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 21, from the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany, with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Port Allegany Honor Guard.
