Obituary of Thelma L. Davis

Smethport- Thelma L. Davis, 83, of Smethport, went back to God, Monday (August 16, 2010). She was born Sept. 6, 1926 in Hazelhurst, a daughter of Glenn "Babe" and Dorothy Kinney Causer. On June 7, 1949, in Olean, NY, she married George O. Davis, who died May 15, 1983. Mrs. Davis was employed years ago at the Bakus Co. of Smethport. She was a homemaker, loving care giver, the rock of her family, known as a mentor to many, an inspiration to each generation with her love, honest, genuine hard working approach to life. Thelma will never be forgotten, but lives still inside everyone who knew her and was lucky enough to be touched by her kindness and strength of character. She enjoyed playing bingo, and will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by: one son, George O. Davis, Jr. of Port Allegany 3 daughters: Linda (Randy) Miller of Gifford; Sharon "Pinky" Ahearn of Smethport; Bonnie (Dan) Britton of Betula 8 Grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren 1 brother: Richard (Sue) Causer of Kansas 4 sisters: Glenna (Jerry) Larkin of Port Allegany; Janet Swick of Bradford; Carol Trainer of Minnesota; Joan (Chuck) Sherwood of Florida; and many nieces and nephews Waiting in heaven are her husband, parents, one son David, 1 grandson Nokoa Britton, 3 brothers Jack, Ken, and Robert Causer, 3 sisters Donna Chapman, Vera Fenton, and Melva Swick Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19, from Noon to 1pm at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St. Smethport, where funeral and committal services will be held at 1pm with the Rev. Kent Hill, pastor of the Coryville Church of Faith, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley. Memorials can be made to Norwich Twp.
