My first vivid memory of Bill was when my brother Dan Olson and Bill were watching scary movies at my mothers Bar, (Edie's Inn) and I begged for them to let me stay up with them and watch the movie. They said it was too scary and it would give me nightmares. I believe I was about 10 at the time. About 42 years ago or so anyway. After some teasing they finally let me watch the show with them. And it WAS scary, and when it came time for me to go to sleep in the spare bedroom I was afraid. I tried to go and wake up my ma Edie and Dan got so mad and picked me up and threw me several times into the bed. Bill, I remember him roaring with laughter at the sight of all this. Later I would remember fond times during family holiday get-togethers when Bill would stop in to visit with us. He was a good man and I thought very highly of him. I will miss him, as you will also. Please accept my offer of sorrow for your loss.

My condolences to the family of Bill Silfies. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I attended SAHS one year behind Bill. We were on the ~1964 Babe Ruth All-Star team which made a run at the PA State Championship. As I recall we lost in the semi-finals in a game held in Phoenixville Pa. Bill was an absolutely intimidating pitcher and a major reason our team did so well.
I followed Bill to the US Coast Guard Academy one year after Bill started there.
I have fond memories of Bill and the good times we had in sports. I know he will be missed.
