Obituary of Harry E. Coast

Smethport - Harry E. Coast, 88, of Cyclone, died Tuesday (November 16, 2010) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. He was born Sept. 2, 1922 in Clintonville, a son of Braden and Laura Cannon Coast. In Sept. of 1946, he married Lois Ellen Stilson. She died on Oct. 25, 1989. He then married Kathryn E. Best on Sept. 21, 1991, who survives. Mr. Coast attended Clintonville area schools. He was a PFC in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was employed by Pennzoil for many years in Bradford as a Roustabout. In later years, he worked as manager of their water treatment plant until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Cyclone Free Methodist Church, attended the Hilltop Baptist Church, and was active in the Bradford and Smethport Senior Centers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters: Clara Cynthia (Gary) Cooper of North Platt, NE, Virginia Mae Coast of Orchard Park, NY, Candance Marie (Doyle) Bettis of Mineral Wells, TX, Susan Faye (Douglas) Johnson of Oil City, PA, Tammy Beth (Jerome) Tingley of Limestone, NY, Judith Ann (Douglas) Smith of Gifford, PA 3 Step children: Thomas (Marilyne) Gorrell of Smethport, Jerry (Susan) Gorrell of Cyclone, Julie (Leonard) McKeirnan of Crosby 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and several Step Grandchildren, Step Great Grandchildren, and Step Great Great Grandchildren one sister: Dessie Coast of Yucapia, CA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11A.M., from the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
