Obituary of William Zylinski

Smethport - William Zylinski, Jr., 84, of Betula, died Sunday (December 19, 2010) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born Nov 8, 1926 in Buffalo, a son of William and Hilda Schilke Zylinski, Sr. On Sept. 29, 1950, in Guttenburg, NJ, he married Florence M. Hurban, who survives. Mr. Zylinski served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a professional Fire Fighter for the city of Buffalo for 20 years, working with Engine Co. #19 of Buffalo, NY. He retired in 1976 after 20 years of faithful service to the city. He was a member of the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, St. Elizabeth Church of Smethport, and several Veterans organizations and numerous activities and groups in the community. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: William S. (Vicki) Zylinski of Buffalo, NY, Paul M. (Glenda) Zylinski of Pasco, WA, Roy J. (Gwen) Zylinski of Smethport, PA 7 Grandchildren one sister: Dorothy Barnitone of Rochester, NY one brother: Norbert "Bud" Zylinski of Hamburg, NY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son at birth, and 2 brothers. There will be no visitation. A Blessing service will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at 10:00 am from the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor of St. Elizabeth Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby.
