Smethport - Francis W. Finley, 90, of Smethport, died Wednesday (March 23, 2011) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born May 28, 1920 in Smethport, a son of William and Mary Finley. He was first married to Ethel Austin, who died on January 17, 1971. He then was married to Edith Southwick, who died on August 20, 1985. In 1987, in St. Mary's Church, Sartwell, he married Frances L. McAnallan-Caldwell, who survives. Mr. Finley attended Farmers Valley schools and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Finley had worked in the oil fields for Franchot Oil, and later was a foreman employed by the Kinley Oil Company, from where he retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Smethport, a lifetime member of the American Legion; Eldred Post #887 and the Keating Sportsman Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Lori (Doug) Jewell of Corry, PA, Deborah Caldwell of Coudersport, PA two sons: George (Carolyn) Caldwell of East Smethport, PA, Bernard (Marcia) Caldwell of Dublin, VA Grandchildren: Tabatha Dart, Heather Gardner, Kevin Caldwell, Ashley Caldwell, Doug Jewell, Jr., Darrin Jewell, and Justin Jewell 8 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents and first wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Martin Finley. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St. Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 11 AM from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Smethport, with the Rev. William Crittenden officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley. Military Honors will be accorded at church by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
