Port Allegany- William Tauscher, 88, of Port Allegany, PA, died Saturday (March 26, 2011) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford. He was born May 4, 1922 in Port Allegany, a son of William and Sue Conrad Tauscher. On March 20, 1944, in Kansas City, MO, he married Harriett Smith, who died Sept. 21, 1986. Mr. Tauscher was a graduate of Port Allegany High School. He was a TEC 3 in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving during WWII from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Tauscher worked as a foreman at Pittsburg Corning in Port Allegany retiring after 44 yrs of service. He was an excellent gun smith for most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Frank Burt Post #258, and a life member of the VFW Post #6391, both of Port Allegany. He is survived by one daughter: Brenda Jean (Raymond) Smith of Indianapolis, IN one son: Gregg (Rita) Tauscher of Smethport, PA 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren one brother: John Tauscher of Port Allegany, PA and several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Wednesday, at 11 AM, with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Hill Cemetery, Port Allegany.
