Obituary of John Francis Gilbert

Smethport- John Francis Gilbert, 76, of Smethport, formerly of Fredonia, NY, died Friday (September 2, 2011) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born June 5, 1935 in Olean, NY, a son of Frank and Margaret Nungery Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was a graduate of Lackawana High School, Lackawana, NY, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955. Mr. Gilbert was a life insurance agent, employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance, and had his offices in Salamanca, NY before retiring. He was a former member of the Salamanca, NY Jaycees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters. A Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 1 pm in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; McKean County, P.O.
