Smethport - Edith M. McGavisk Margetta, 93, of Smethport, died Monday (March 26, 2012) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born Feb 4, 1919 in Red House, NY, a daughter of George and Effie Estes Goodrich. She first married Henry McGavisk, Jr, who died in 1964. She then married Anthony Margetta, who died in 1979. Mrs. Margetta obtained her LPN at St. Vincent's and was a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA. She is survived by: two daughters: Cheryl F. "Sherry" Simmons of Yarmouth Port, MA and Frances M. Hector of Smethport, PA 4 Grandchildren, one Great Granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and one grandson, Bruce Hector, on Nov. 22, 2011. Visitation and services will be held privately with the family. Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor of St. Elizabeth Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Ave., Bradford, PA 16701, or The Humane Society of Northwestern PA, 2407 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
