Obituary of Janice L. Leet

Smethport - Janice L. Leet, 74, of Smethport, died Saturday (March 31, 2012) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport, PA. She was born Oct. 19, 1937 in Smethport, a daughter of Merton and Doris Gorton Irons. On June 2, 1956, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, she married Kenneth B. Leet, who survives. Mrs. Leet was a graduate of Hamlin Township High School and worked as a sales clerk at several retail locations in Smethport, ultimately retiring from Buchanan Brothers Pharmacy in Smethport. Over the years, she and her husband opened their home and family to 81 foster children. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Kolleen M. (Brian) Press of Smethport, PA and Kari L. (Roger) Senakievich of Bannock, OH two sons: Kenneth B. (Nancy Priday) Leet of Bradford, PA and William W. (Susan Sliker) Leet of Kane, PA Granddaughter, Ryann Press of Pittsburgh, PA and grandson, Bryant Press of Smethport, PA. one sister: Joyce J. Knotts of Stow, OH three brothers: Philip Roger (Jean) Irons of Mt. Alton, PA, Gordon (Sherry) Irons of Ormsby, PA, Gideon "Buddy" (Donna) Irons of Rootstown, OH, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald and Richard Irons, and an infant brother. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
