Obituary of Bernard Hammond
Smethport - Bernard "Bernie" Hammond, 69, of Smethport, formerly of Stanhope and Mine Hill NJ died Saturday (May 12, 2012) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford.
He was born April 4, 1943 in Fuerth, Germany, a son of Heinrich and Erna Matscheko Kuchenreuther.
Mr. Hammond was an electrician employed by Howmet, now Alcoa. He also enjoyed carpentry, collecting firearms, volunteering at the McKean County Historical Society, and was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hammond was particularly interested in colonial America and revolutionary history, including participating in re-enactments.
His favorite saying was "Only the mountains are forever"
He is survived by
two daughters: Donna Del Grosso of Hopatcong, NJ and Sharon Hammond of Mount Tabor, NJ
two grandchildren: Gavin and Olivia Del Grosso
one sister: Margarete Peterson of Brevard, NC
At Mr. Hammond's request, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in Clermont Cemetery, Clermont.
