Obituary of Harry W. Niece

Port Allegany - Harry W. Niece, 79, of Port Allegany, moved on to the "Happy Hunting Grounds" on Sunday (June 3, 2012). He was born Dec. 26, 1932 in Milford, NJ, a son of William E. and Florence Fisher Niece. On Aug. 25, 1956, in Durham, PA, he married Joyce M. Hissim, who survives. Mr. Niece attended Nockamixon High School in Revere, PA. He worked for the Riegel Paper Corp. of Milford, NJ. He then served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the 109th "Old Gray Mare" Infantry Regiment, 28th Division of Augsburg, Germany. When Mr. Niece moved to Port Allegany, he worked for the Port Gulf Station, and finally as a Custodian for the Port Allegany Elementary School, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Port Allegany Honor Guard, the V.F.W. Post #6391 of Port Allegany, American Legion; Frank Burt Post #258 of Port Allegany, and the Canoe Place Fish & Game Club, . In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Anne M. (H. Michael) Niece-Clevenger of Lenoir, NC one son: William "Bill" E. (Kate) Niece of Port Allegany, PA grandson, Jeremy Niece of Port Allegany, PA; granddaughter, Danielle Niece of Pittsburgh, PA. several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA, where funeral and committal services will begin at 8 PM with the Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Port Allegany Honor Guard at the funeral home following services. Burial will be in the Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette, PA. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 2-4 PM at the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial Home, 4743 Rt. 155 South, Port Allegany,PA 16743.
