Obituary of H. Forrest Whipkey, Jr.

Port Allegany - H. Forrest Whipkey, Jr., 74, of, Port Allegany, died Tuesday (June 19, 2012) at his home in Port Allegany. He was born Jan 6, 1938 in Mt Pleasant, Pa a son of H. Forrest and Ola Darling Harper Whipkey, Sr., On July 7, 1962 in Union City, PA; he married Gertrude A. Rowland, who survives. This past week the Whipkey Family had gathered in Georgia to celebrate Forrest and Gertrude 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Whipkey was a 1956 graduate of Scottdale High School and received a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Arts from California University in 1960. After graduation Mr. Whipkey tough industrial arts for Wilkinsburg, PA High School and Port Allegany High School. He then worked for Pittsburg Corning Corp, Lord Manufacturing of Erie, PA and then Pierce Glass thru Ball Incon as a Design Draftsman. During this time period he also operated Whipkey Furniture Restoration where he was known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Allegany and a life member of the NRA. He was a SP5 in the U.S. Army National Guard, serving from 1956 to 1963 In addition to his wife, he is survived by Two daughters: Andrea (Pete) Guillard of Roanoke, VA, Barbara (Melvin) Gibbon of Columbus, OH three sons: David (Kelly Austin) Whipkey of Port Allegany, PA, Matthew Whipkey of Port Allegany, PA, Jonathan (Rachel) Whipkey of Newnan, GA 9 grandchildren: Pete Guillard III, Elisha Guillard, Zareyfah, Zuri, Rachim and Zarah Gibbon: Emily, Ashley and Kai Whipkey Two sisters: Ruth (Gordon) Meyer of Connellsville, PA, Lois (Blaine) McFadden of Mt. Pleasant, PA He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son in 1969 Visitation will be held on Friday June 22, 2012, from 2 - 4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA. Funeral service will be held on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Port Allegany, with the CLP Garen Smith, officiating.
