Obituary of Raymond Theodore Larson

Smethport - Raymond Theodore Larson, 96, of Smethport, formerly of Farmers Valley, died Saturday (June 23, 2012) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport. He was born Sept. 7, 1915 in Farmers Valley, a son of August and Mary Dolstrum Larson. On Oct. 16, 1937, in Farmers Valley, PA, he married Madolyn Crouse, who died December 14, 1996. Mr. Larson attended Farmers Valley schools and Smethport High School. He worked in the local oil fields for 25 years and then went to work in heavy construction for S.J. Groves & Co., Minneapolis, MN, where he retired after 30 years as a foreman/ superintendent. He was a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge #460, McKean Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport, PA. He is survived by one daughter: Mary Grogg of Annmoore, WV. 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond T. Larson, Jr., 5 brothers, and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10-11 A.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette Twp. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
