Obituary of Pauline M. Black

Smethport - Pauline M. Black, 80, of Smethport, died Friday (June 29, 2012) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born Nov 28, 1931 in Crosby, a daughter of Ellsworth B. and Anna Weidert Lathrop, Sr. On June 16, 1950, in Smethport, PA, she married Robert C. Black, who died on Dec. 17, 2005. Mrs. Black attended Crosby schools and held various jobs over her lifetime. She ultimately was a homemaker tending to the needs of her family. She was a member of the Sena Kean Purple Hats Club, was a peer leader at Sena Kean Manor, was a former Senior Queen at Sena Kean and the McKean County Fair, and loved to play Bingo. She is survived by two daughters: Susan M. (Ted) Phalon and Carol J. (Shane) Prosser, both of Smethport, PA three sons: Robert C. (Vanessa) Black, Jr. of East Smethport, PA, Paul E. (Lesley) Black of Smethport, PA, and Timmy L. (Lisa) Black of Rixford, PA 13 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren Six brothers: Ellsworth B. "Bones" Lathrop, Jr., and Paul Lathrop, both of Crosby; James and Andrew Lathrop both of Smethport; Michael Lathrop of Turtlepoint; and Richard Lathrop of Port Allegany Two sisters: Orvella "Orvie" Luce of Crosby and Anna Mae Uber of Emporium Special niece and nephew: Donnie and Jana Cook, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Jo Cook and Betty Corbett, and two brothers: George and Donald Lathrop. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, at 11 A.M., with the Rev. Beth Rosler and Rev. Glenn Hamilton, pastors of the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church of Prentisvale, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
