Jim was a great family friend, and 'guardian' to our family cabin on the mountain top. I remember so many good times going fishing with Jim and my dad, 'bat' hunting from the big barn near his house, cook-outs, target shooting, playing with the dogs, playing card games,catching little critters at the creek running through the yard...so many good times, so many memories from when I was little...this is heart-wrenching for me, more so to my dad I am sure, my dad will miss him greatly, much of the Scherer family members will in fact. Jim also gave me a fascination with art and painting, and really got me into selling my art at fairs, I remember going to a few fairs he worked, and would sit there watching him paint beautifully, he made it look so easy!! Carol, I wish I could be at the funeral to say goodbye, know that I am there in spirit, thoughts and prayers. God bless Jim, you and your family, he is in a better, peaceful happy place now.
