Obituary of Terry D. Gleason

Smethport - Terry D. Gleason, 53, of Smethport, died Wednesday (April 30, 2014) at his residence in Smethport. He was born Feb. 16, 1961 in Bradford, a son of Ralph “Ned” and Marian Pais Gleason. Mr. Gleason attended Smethport schools. He had worked for various construction companies as an equipment operator, retiring from R & R Services, due to illness. Terry was a past champion at Bradford Speedway and multiple feature winner at both the Bradford and McKean County Raceway, where he was voted most popular driver. His favorite quote, which was printed on his racecar, was, “The fun doesn’t start ‘till the sparks fly”. His greatest joy was his son and traveling with him to as many race tracks as possible to watch races. Terry was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the VFW; Smethport Post #2497. He is survived by: one son: Terry A. Gleason of Port Allegany, PA three sisters: Lori (Tara Olson) Gleason of Smethport, Lisa (John) McMurray of Coalport, and Shirley Putt of Portville, NY two brothers: Thomas Gleason of Smethport and Tracy Gleason of Oxford, PA Nieces: Nina and Lacie Gleason and Courtney McMurray Nephews: Shane McMurray, Bill and Matt Putt One Aunt: Mary Cioffi One Uncle: Louis Cappelletti And several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step brother: Timothy Alderfer. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
