Obituary of John H. Gregg
Roulette - John H. Gregg, 81, of Roulette, died Sunday (October 26, 2014) in the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
He was born March 1, 1933 in Philadelphia, a son of Mabel MacDonald. On July 19, 1952, in Westmont, NJ, he married Nancy S. Eisenhardt, who survives.
Mr. Gregg was a graduate of Dobins Vocational Technical High School in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Trenton State University, Temple University, and Rutgers University.
Mr. Gregg was a teacher, employed by Camden County Vocational Technical High School as a sheet metal instructor, retiring in 1995. He also taught at Runnemede High School, and Trenton Junior/Senior High School, both in New Jersey. He later worked for Richard Hawthorne in Inglis, FL, in the sheet metal department. He also owned and operated his own sheet metal shop in Roulette for several years.
He was a member of the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, where he taught Junior/Senior Sunday School for many years. He and his wife were also foster parents in New Jersey where they had 36 children and he had also been a Cub Scout leader in Levittown, PA.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by
two daughters: Susan (Joe) VanReymersdal of Yardley, PA, Eileen (Steve) Albanese of Langhorne, PA
one son: John H. (Cheryl) Gregg, Jr. of Smethport, PA
daughter in law: Kellanne Gregg of Langhorne, PA
11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Brian Gregg.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 105 N. Main St., Port Allegany, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Port Allegany, with the Rev. Dale Post, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Cemetery, Roulette.
