Obituary of Arthur L. Norgrove

Smethport - Arthur L. Norgrove, Sr., 79, of Smethport, died Wednesday (February 27, 2013) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born March 25, 1933 in Plymouth, MI, a son of Arthur Phillip and Dorothy Marsh Norgrove. On April 4, 1978, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, he married Mary D. Illerbrun, who survives. Mr. Norgrove was in the U.S. Air Force, serving during Korea, and later in the Air National Guard. He was an aircraft mechanic during his service. Mr. Norgrove was employed by Kendall/Witco of Bradford, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, was a former member of the National American Legion, belonged to the Niagara Falls Air National Guard, was a former member of both Smethport and Bradford Bowling Leagues, was a former Mason, and belonged to the Quarter Century Club at Witco in Bradford. He was an avid racing and Dale Earnhardt fan, he loved airshows, antique tractor shows and John Deere tractors, coin collecting, "tinkering" in his garage, and traveling with his wife, Mary. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Cheryl Bennis of North Carolina and Cheron Heitzinger of McLoud, OK six sons: Donald Rogers of McLoud, OK, David Norgrove of Louisville, KY, Daniel Norgrove of Bradford, Arthur Norgrove, Jr. of McLoud, OK, Jeff Zuver of Avon, IN, and Christopher Zuver of Bradford. many grandchildren and great-grandchildren two sisters: Phyllis Maxwell of Fowlerville, MI and Janice Lambert of Eaton Rapids, MI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Asher. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, March 4, at 10 A.M., in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant. Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport. A Christian Wake service will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
