Obituary of Ronald C. Benjamin

Smethport - Ronald C. "Skip" Benjamin, 73, of Smethport, died Wednesday (August 29, 2012) in the Lakeview Senior Care & Living Ctr., Smethport. He was born Dec 30, 1938 in Smethport, a son of Harold and Ellen Anderson Benjamin. On July 8, 1960, in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Smethport, he married Anita L. Grinolds, who survives. Mr. Benjamin attended Smethport Schools and had first worked at Zippo Manufacturing, but ultimately he was employed at Witco, becoming Belden & Blake Co., as a well tender for 20 years. After his retirement, he worked for C.L. McKeirnan as a van driver. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Smethport, was an avid camper, and had been a camp host for the PA State Parks System. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Rhonda (Dan Uplinger) Marsh of Brockway, PA, Belinda (Tim) Smead of Aiken, PA two grandchildren: Tyler and Kaitlin Smead both of Aiken, PA three sisters: Janet Billings of Rochester, NY; Barbara "Snooki" Morgan and Sarah Benjamin, both of Smethport, PA three brothers: Harold Benjamin of Punxsutawney, PA; Phillip "Cricky" Benjamin of Smethport, PA, and George Benjamin of Eldred, PA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 am from the Hope Lutheran Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Thomas Beam, pastor, officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; McKean County, 95 Main St, Bradford, Pennsylvania 16701.
