Obituary of Geraldine Joyce Hixenbaugh

Smethport - Geraldine "Gerry" Joyce Hixenbaugh, 65, of Smethport, passed away Friday (April 15, 2016) at UPMC- Hamot in Erie. She was born Jan. 5, 1951 in Johnstown, a daughter of John and Alma Caylor Frantz. On May 14, 2014, in Bradford, she married Jack W. Hixenbaugh, who survives. Mrs. Hixenbaugh was a graduate of Blacklick Valley High School in Nanty Glo, PA and attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and Bradford. She graduated at the top of her class from Pitt with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Gerry worked as a seamstress for Ethan Allen of Eldred until it closed operations. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; A.E.R.I.E #2432 of Bradford. She enjoyed many things in life, and especially liked gardening. In addition to her husband, Jack, she is survived by: two daughters: Stacy (Brian) Tanner of Smethport and Jill (Tim) Keller of Bradford five grandchildren: Brandy, Gerad, Gaige, Brian, Jr., and Summer several great-grandchildren five sisters: Darlene (Clair) Michaels, Phyllis (William) Michaels, and Cathy (Dave) Mack, all of Vintondale, PA, Janet (Jim) Llewellyn of Nanty Glo, PA, and Donna (Ray) Michaels of NJ two brothers: Jack (Patty) Frantz of St. Marys and David (Connie) Frantz of Ebensburg, PA and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gerry was preceded in death by two brothers: Leon and William Frantz. At Gerry's request, services will be held privately with the family.
