Obituary of Theresa L. Johnston

Smethport - Theresa L. Johnston, 85, of Lafayette, passed away Tuesday (June 7, 2016). She was born Nov. 23, 1930 in Manhattan, NY, a daughter of Milton and Mary Banary. On June 24, 1950, in New York City, NY, she married Joseph T. Johnston, who died November 25, 1999. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker for the majority of her life, tending to the needs of her family. She is survived by: Three daughters: Marion Decker of East Greenbush, NY, Theresa (Steven) Putnam of Cyclone, and Frances Carner of Lafayette Eight grandsons: Joseph, Michael, Clayton, Matthew and Andrew Decker, Christopher and Nicholas Carner, and Wayne Putnam One great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons And several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. In keeping with Theresa's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, June 13th, at 10 A.M., in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor as Celebrant.
