Obituary of Donald C. Brown

Port Allegany - Donald C. Brown, 84, of Port Allegany, died Sunday (August 28, 2016) at his home in Port Allegany. He was born June 7, 1932 in Port Allegany, a son of Norman and Violet Crawford Brown. In 1967, in Port Allegany, PA, he married JoAnn Swanson, who survives. Mr. Brown was a 1950 graduate of Port Allegany High School and attended Ora Jean Barber School. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1953 to 1955 where he received a Purple Heart. He worked as a barber in Olean, NY and for Carlie's Barber Shop in Port Allegany. He then worked for Market Basket in Emporium before purchasing Stan's Quality Shop in Port Allegany where he retired from in 1995. His greatest loves were golf, family and friends. He was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Port Allegany , the Emporium Country Club and in 2015 became a 60 yr. member of the Liberty Lodge # 505 Free and Accepted Masons of Port Allegany , Past Master and Past High Priest of the Blue Lodge. In addition to his wife, he is survived by many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Robert, Kenneth, and Dale Brown There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, with the Rev. Joann Piatko, officiating.
