Obituary of David William Ford

Smethport - David William Ford, 68, of Rew, died unexpectedly, Wednesday (December 14, 2016) at his residence. He was born May 23, 1948 in Bradford, a son of Azel and Adronicia Fisher Ford. On Oct. 10, 2014, in Warren, PA, he married Michele L. Hendrickson, who survives. Mr. Ford was a 1967 graduate of Smethport Area High School and attended Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Mr. Ford had worked for the PA Dept. of Environmental Protection as a state oil & gas inspector for 20 years. He also worked for Shell Oil of North America as a Down-Hole Operations Supv., retiring in Oct. 2013. David was a member of the American Legion; Bradford Post #108 and of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters: Jennifer (Donald) Coombs of Holden Beach, NC and Christine "Chrissy" (Mark) Ford-Edwards of Wilmington, NC two sons: Gregory (Shannon) Ford of Garner, NC and Shawn (Amanda) Ford of Brookville, PA one sister: Beverly (Lester) Ford-Long of Chesterfield, VA one brother: Richard (Jane) Ford of Roulette, PA 7 grandchildren: Anna, Emily, Noah, Chandler, Owen, Sierra and Austin and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald R. Ford. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 PM, at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Rob Hernan, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Smethport, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
