Obituary of Rita T. Rees

Port Allegany - Rita T. Rees, 86, of Port Allegany, died Thursday (January 5, 2017) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born July 26, 1930 in Erie, a daughter of George J. and Theresa R. Hoffman Stoker. On May 3, 1947, in Port Allegany, she married Paul S. Kauffman, who died in 1963. She then married Albert L. Rees on Sept. 10, 1966. He died on Sept. 21, 2007. Mrs. Rees was a graduate of Port Allegany High School and worked for Beck's Store in Port and then for Sylvania of Emporium. After retiring from Sylvania, she continued volunteering at St. Gabriel's Church and Sena Kean Manor of Smethport. Rita was a member of St. Gabriel's Church and Women's Club. She enjoyed helping others and taking care of her family. She is survived by: three sons: Daniel Kauffman of Bartow, FL, Dennis (Mary Ann) Kauffman of Bradenton, FL and Rodney (Pam) Rees of Port Allegany one daughter: Rene (Michael) Barnard of Port Allegany 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren one sister: Joan M. Chimenz of Port Allegany, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 105 N. Main St., Port Allegany, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, Jan. 9, in St. Gabriel's Church, Port Allegany, with the Rev. James Campbell, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Port Allegany. A Christian Wake service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 PM. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, the Port Allegany Ambulance Service, or Port Allegany Fire Department.
