Obituary of Wilbert Hoyet

Smethport - Wilbert Hoyet, 101, of Crosby, died Friday (March 31, 2017) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was born Sept. 17, 1915 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada, a son of Eugene and Ida Hoyet. He was married to Nancy Ann Daddona, who died January 7, 1997. Mr. Hoyet served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from 1942 to 1945 on the USS Aircraft Carrier Wasp. Mr. Hoyet had worked as facility supervisor for North Slope Union #959 Alaskan Teamsters and while working for PPG, was plant superintendent for 37 years in Kokomo, IN. He owned and operated the Wildlife Lodge in Crosby since 1957 He was a member of Alaskan Teamsters Union, PPG Industries, Lifetime member of the NRA, American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, the VFW Post #7376 of Saxonburg, PA. He loved hunting, and was a small arms instructor. He also enjoyed fishing and did taxidermy. He was a very proud WWII veteran. He is survived by: one son: Richard (Linda) Hoyet of Harrison, Arkansas along with 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Kim Hoyet, two brothers and four sisters. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 7 at 10:00 am in the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Smethport, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; John Berg Post #976 of Crosby.
