Obituary of Andrew Anthony Operchal

Smethport - Andrew Anthony "Andy" /" Pap-Pap" Operchal, 61, of Betula, PA, formerly of Conway, PA went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2017, while at his residence. Andrew was born August 4, 1955 in Rochester, PA, the cherished son of the late Andrew George and Evelyn Ann (Sabo) Operchal. He was a 1973 graduate of Freedom High School and retired as a Senior General Foreman from the Conrail / Norfolk Southern Railroad after a long and fulfilling career, spanning 39 years. He was a social member of the Crosby American Legion (John Berg Post # 976), as well as a life-long member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Club and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, both in Conway, PA. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Kayann L. (Wilcox) Operchal. Also surviving are his beloved daughters, Elaina Eve Elder (Shawn) of Sewickley, PA and Alyssa Maria Operchal of West Pittsburg, PA and his step-daughter, Hannah Catherine Wolfe of Lewis Run, PA. His grandchildren, Aiden Anthony Elder, Adalind Grace Elder, and Anabelle Juliette Elder. Andrew was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family and hunting with his dog, "Tess". He will be remembered as an admired and respected friend who would do anything for anyone who asked. He will be missed beyond words. In keeping with Andy's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
