Obituary of Lawrence B. Cochran

Smethport - Lawrence B. Cochran, 74, of Coryville, passed away Wednesday (December 13, 2017) in the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. He was born Feb. 15, 1943 in Bradford, a son of Lawrence and Mina Fitzmaurice Cochran. On September 10, 1966, in Smethport, PA, he married Frances Gail Rounsville, who died April 19, 2017. Mr. Cochran was a 1962 graduate of Smethport Area High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1962 to 1965, attaining the rank of SP-5. Mr. Cochran worked as a truck driver for Valley Coal & Supply of Ridgway, PA. Larry was a member of the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport, the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport, and the American Teamsters Union. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and he loved talking to them about their athletic and educational accomplishments. He always had mints in his pocket to give to them. They often found mints he would leave for them after he would visit. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by: two daughters: Lorraine "Rainey" G. (Jeffrey) Coles of Bradford and Kolene M.M. (John) O'Brien of Jamestown, NY, 5 Grandchildren: Dustin and Olivia Coles, Daniel, Sean, and Kylie O'Brien. And several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Cochran, and two sisters, Sandra Kaziska and Ginger Taylor. A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on Friday, December 29th, from 4-7 PM at the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
