Obituary of Shirley J. States

Port Allegany - Shirley J. State, 79, formerly of Rossiter and Smithport, PA, died Sunday (December 17, 2017) at her home in, Port Allegany. She was born Sep 19, 1938 in Rossiter, a daughter of John Emil and Sarah Narcissa Stahlman Stoneberg, On Dec. 23, 1955 in Marchand, PA she married George William States, who survives. Mrs. State attended Rossiter Schools. She was employed W.T. Grant in Buffalo, NY and Loree Footwear in Rossiter. Later she was the owner and operator of Shirley States Beauty Salon in Smithport, PA Shirley was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #72 in Punxsutawney, the Women of the Moose Club #2188 of Port Allegany and Legion Auxiliary #258 of Port Allegany. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and most importantly spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchild, and friends In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter: Pamela J. (William) Neely of Glen Campbell, PA one son: William G. (Rachelle) State of Rixford, PA 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 step grandchild One brother Eugene (Joyce) Stoneberg She was preceded in death by her parents 4 brothers Everett, Edward, Marlin, and Kenneth and 2 sisters Nellie and Emma. There will be no visitation.
