Obituary of Alan J. Hamilton

Smethport - Alan J. Hamilton, 53, of Smethport, died Friday (August 2, 2013) in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Dec. 26, 1959 in Port Allegany, a son of Howard E. and Betty L. Pendleton Hamilton. On July 15, 1995, in Smethport, PA, he married Cindy L. Comfort, who survives. Mr. Hamilton worked at Ethan Allen Co. of Eldred for 29 years, until they closed. He then attained his GED and went to Triangle Tech and was certified in welding. He was in the top percentile of his class. He worked as a welder for Kane Manufacturing of Kane until his sickness. He was a member of local pool shooting leagues, playing for the Valley Inn pool team, was a demolition derby participant, and he was very active in community events. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Tanya S. (Ryan) Brown of Port Allegany, PA, Christi L. (Garry) Kisko of Hinesville, GA, Polly (Allen) Cullum of North Augusta, SC, and Brianna N. Gaskin of Erie, PA two sons: William "Bill" Gaskin of Smethport, and Christopher (Alicia) Hamilton of CA 4 granddaughters and 4 grandsons two sisters: Amanda Elder of SC, and Natalie Hamilton of SC nine brothers: Robert and James Hamilton, both of Port Allegany, PA, Donald Hamilton of York, PA, Lynn Snowden of Erie, PA, Wayne Bentz of FL, Eugene Bentz of MD, Brandon and Brent Schweikart both of Virginia Beach, VA, and Adam Hamilton of Port Allegany, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, from noon to 4:00 pm, at the Norwich Twp. Volunteer Fire Hall of Crosby. The family requests that friends dress casually. Memorials may be made to the Alan J. Hamilton Memorial Fund at Hamlin Bank, Smethport, PA.
