Obituary of Barbara M. Mennig

Port Allegany - Barbara M. Mennig, 81, of Port Allegany, formerly of Waverly, NY, died Monday (January 29, 2018) in the Penn Highland-Elk Hospital, St. Marys, PA. She was born Aug. 29, 1936 in Clarks Summit, PA, a daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy Shaw Sordon. In 1955, in Wisconsin, she married Richard Mennig, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Mennig was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and attended nursing school. Mrs. Mennig was a Records Clerk employed by the Waverly Police Dept. of Waverly, NY. She was a member of Women of the Moose and the Methodist Church of Waverly, NY. Mrs. Mennig coached youth softball in Waverly and was an avid animal lover. She loved her time working for the Waverly Police Dept. and Recreational Dept. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She is survived by: two daughters: Laurie(Jeff) Schultz of Port Allegany, PA and Jill (Scott) Burdick of Aldie, VA, two sons: Todd Mennig of Port Allegany, PA and Craig (Tracy) Mennig of Waverly, NY, Grandchildren: Katie (Eric) Kursman, Emily (Scott Jones) Schultz, Samantha Mennig, Zoe Mennig, Zachary Burdick and Brandon Burdick Great Grandchildren: Eli Kursman, Maya Kursman, and Blaire Jones. two sisters: Carol Gianbalvo of Jacksonville, FL and Susan Grubb of Duncannon, PA, one brother: Lou Sordon of Hanover, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelley Rae, and two sisters, Ruth Sordoni and Sally West. At Barb's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Ave., Bradford, PA 16701.
