Obituary of Charlotte Ida Fay

Smethport - Charlotte I. Fay, 98, of Smethport, passed away on Tuesday (February 20, 2018) at Lakeview Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, Smethport. She was born April 14, 1919 in Monson, ME, a daughter of Siguard Albert and Gladys Hall Titcomb Anderson. On September 22, 1945 in Reno, NV, she married Michael Zane Fay. Charlotte attended elementary school in Willimantic, ME, graduated from Guilford High School in 1938 and Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Bangor, ME in 1943. She worked as a registered nurse in Bangor, ME; Reno, NV; Olean, NY and retired from Sena-Kean Manor, Smethport in 1984. Charlotte was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth's Women's Club, former Ct. Ave Marie #203 Catholic Daughters of America, Sena-Kean Manor Auxiliary, Smethport Chapter of AARP and the Smethport Garden Club. Surviving are son, Michael (Pat) Fay, Jr. of Colegrove, PA; daughters, Charlotte Rowena of Stillwater, NY; Marilyn Roberta Schrubb of Runnemede, NJ; Nancy Jean (Stanton) Higley of Middletown, OH and Margaret Louise (Kenneth) Johnson of Cherry Hill, NJ as well as 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a brother, Anton of Dexter, ME, a sister, Irene Roberts of Boston, MA, her aunt, Grace of Brewer, ME, her former husband, Michael of San Antonio, TX, a daughter, Judi of Ball, LA and grandson, Alan Scott Burt of Roulette, PA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24th, from 9-10 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Smethport, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, with the Rev. Vincent P. Cieslewicz, pastor, as Celebrant. Committal will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Elizabeth Parish Development Memorial Fund or St. Elizabeth Building Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.hartle-tarboxfuneralhomes.com.
