Obituary of Norman W. Hills

Smethport - Norman W. Hills, 73, of Smethport, passed away Tuesday (August 6, 2013) in the Bradford Manor, Bradford, after a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 6, 1940 in Bolivar, NY, a son of Claude Lyle and the late Esther M. Hunt Hills. On April 1, 1958, in Port Allegany, PA, he married Claudia E. Ostrander, who survives. Norman worked many years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Smethport VFW and the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Tammy (Rick) Rounsville and Laureen (Ron) Best, both of Smethport, PA one son: Jason Hills of Smethport, PA, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. six sisters: Delores Herdman of Rochester, NY, Gloria (Norman) Huey of Port Allegany, PA, Kathleen (Patrick) Hadden of Limestone, NY, Judy (Gary) Wagner of Blaisdale, NY, Linda (Fred) Brown of Eldred, PA, and Jane Alexander of NC two brothers: Ted (Joann) Hills of Spencer, NY, Keith (Roxanne) Hills of Candor, NY, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Ralph and Robert Hills; 2 sisters: Joanne Gray and Barbara Juarez. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 A.M., at the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating.
