Obituary of Kenneth Basil Leet

Smethport - Kenneth Basil Leet, 80, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (March 10, 2018) at UPMC-Hamot of Erie. He was born April 19, 1937, a son of James and Gladys VanGorder Leet. On June 2, 1956, in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, he married Janice L. Irons, who died March 31, 2012. Over the years, Ken, and his wife Janice, opened there home and family to over 80 foster children. Ken was a heavy equipment operator working out of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66 of Pittsburgh. He retired in 2002. After his retirement, he worked for Greenman Excavating of Port Allegany. He was a member of Local #66 International Union of Operating Engineers of Pittsburgh and the Keating Sportsmen Club. Ken was a huge fan and supporter of local dirt track racing. He worked on prepping the track at the McKean County Raceway over the years for racing events. Ken was known for his quick wit and stories. He was proud of his family, especially his two grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed. He is survived by: two daughters: Kolleen M. (Brian) Press of Smethport and Kari L. (Roger) Senakievich of Ohio two sons: Kenneth B. (Nancy Priday) Leet and William W. Leet, both of Bradford one granddaughter: Ryann Press of Cranberry Twp., PA one grandson: Bryant (Tess Hirst) Press of Smethport two brothers: Bruce (Fay) Leet of Smethport and Gary Leet of Gifford and several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents and wife, Ken was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Williams and Joyce Beck. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Hilltop Baptist Church, Rt.646, Gifford, PA, where funeral and committal will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, PA.
