Obituary of Edna L. Burton

Smethport - Edna L. Burton, 100, of East Smethport, died Wednesday (August 14, 2013) in the Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. She was born June 22, 1913 in Smethport, a daughter of Charles and Nettie Beers Dickerson. On June 22, 1935, in Smethport, PA, she married Jack W. Burton, who died June 5, 1995. Mrs. Burton was a 1932 graduate of Smethport High School and was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She was a devoted member of the East Smethport United Christian Church, where she had held various positions and ministries throughout the years. She enjoyed life, her family and her church family, and had just celebrated her 100th birthday in June. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 am from the East Smethport United Christian Church, East Smethport, with the Rev. Allen D. Young, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the East Smethport United Christian Church, East Smethport.
