Obituary of Joseph R. Spader

Turtlepoint- Joseph R." Paydirt" Spader Sr. 80, of Turtlepoint, passed over to our Lord and Savior on Friday May 11, 2018 at Lake View Nursing Home in Smethport, PA. Born on April 12, 1938 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of "Sandy" Santi and Helen Baney Spader, Sr.. Joe was a hard worker all of this life. He started out working in his father's coal mine at the age of 14. He served in the Army National Guard for 9 years. Later on, his entrepreneurship spirit show through. He started his own successful excavating business, as well as a trucking and salvage business. In his spare time, Joe thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and excursions to Canada. Joe is survived by his long time loving companion Lois Baker of Turtlepoint 5 sons; Joe (Deb) Spader Jr of Lebanon, David Spader and Terry Spader both of Port Allegany, Michael Spader of Punxsutawney and Ernie Spader of New Jersey 4 daughters Brenda (Mike Barrett) Mowery, Tammy Spader of Port Allegany, Carrie (Tommy) Vigeant of Lancaster, and Shelly Albany of Port Allegany and a step son Ron Gustin of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and two sisters Barb Sitosky and Mary Lou Kessler. He was predeceased by 3 brothers; George, Peter and Sandy Spader Jr. A memorial service honoring Joe's life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
