Obituary of Harry D. Comes

Smethport - Harry D. "Jiggs" Comes, Jr., 80, of, Crosby, died Thursday (July 26, 2018) at his home in Crosby. He was born Apr 11, 1938 in Port Allegany, a son of Harry D. and Hilda Berg Comes, Sr., On Feb. 14, 1976 in Crosby, PA; he married Barbara A. Kandare, who survives. Mr. Comes was a 1938 graduate of Smethport High School. Jiggs had a lifelong passion for farming and was involved with the ED Comes Dairy. Jiggs had an amazing way of expressing his joy for farming. In between long hours of tending the farm, Jiggs had a second career at SenaKean Manor which he enjoyed and eventually retired from. He was the Supervisor for Norwich Township for several years as well. His dogs will miss him greatly Rainy, Sasha and Lilly He was a member of the Norwich Twp. Fire Dept. In addition to his wife and farming partner of 42 years, he is survived by One daughter: Deborah (Bruce) Sharro of Smethport, PA three sons: Rodger (Ann) Comes of Ormsby, PA, Jeff (Kathryn) Comes of Peoria, AZ and Ron (Janice) Comes of Smethport, PA, 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents 4 brothers Donald, Gordon, William, and Paul Comes and 3 sisters Harriett Burghart, Esther Harriman and Virginia Sayers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 am with the Rev Randall Headley, officiating. He also worker at the Sena Kean Manor and Lakeview Senior Care and Living Center. He ia a past Norwich Township Supervisor
