Obituary of Kenneth R. Dawley

Smethport - Kenneth R. Dawley, 83, of 835 Bordell Rd., Smethport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday (August 26, 2013). He was born April 20, 1930 in Bradford, the oldest son of Cleveland L. and Mabel Eschrich Dawley. Ken graduated from the Bradford Area High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army, 84th Airborne, as a Paratrooper during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 in Germany and stateside in North Carolina. On Aug. 14, 1954, in the Rixford Evangelical United Brethren Church, he married Patricia L. Billsborough, who survives. He worked at PennDot, and retired from there in 1995. Ken was a member and Deacon of the Coleville Christian Gospel Church. He spent many hours reading and studying the Bible. He also was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association and local ATV Club. He loved gardening, his dogs, cats, and rabbits. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia L. Billsborough Dawley, his daughter, Janet (Tod) Kervin, and his son, Henry (Tina) Dawley. Four grandchildren: Bob (Katie) Kervin, Aleta (Bill) Cole, Heather (Jason) Snyder, and Stacey (Kevin) Berceli. Five great granddaughters: Haley, Jorja, Emily, Ella, and Alexis. One sister, Joyce Green and one brother, Leon John Dawley, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, PA. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30 at 11:00 am from the Coleville Christian Gospel Church, Coleville, with the Rev. Dan LaPage, officiating. Committal will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion; Bucktail Post #138 of Smethport.
